Manic Mondays – 15th May 2017

‘Teenage angst has paid off well/Now I’m bored and old’

Serve The Servants

Been A Son

Generic Ratings: 1: Crap. 2: Okay. 3: Good. 4: Great

I’ve long said that the Manics are one of the better bands at recording covers, but this is just horrible. It should work wonderfully given how similar they are to Nirvana, how similar in viewpoint the bands were and even lyrically this is the sort of song the Manics may have written themselves. Bradfield is one of the few singers who could echo Cobain’s majesty, but for some reason this just meanders along into nothingness. Bradfield has a couple of okay moments, but mostly it’s aimless yelling over some country sounding bullshit.

Been A Son: 1/Crap

Kurt Cobain – February 20th 1967 – 5th April 1994

I think I’m dumb… maybe just happy’

20 years, buddy. RIP

Nirvana: In Utero 20th Anniversary

Yikes. Every time I see a re-release these days, it destroys me. Those numbers are increasing and it reminds me in black and white that eons have passed. 20 years. That’s almost 20 years without Nirvana. 20 years without Kurt.

Lets hope this album is a worthwhile purchase and not a cash cow. Lets hope it honours the memory of a kick-ass album and one of the greatest bands of all time.

But yeah, September, you’re really trying to kill me – a whole host of Wii U games. The official sequel to The Shining. A new Manic Street Preachers album. A new Anneke Van Giersbergen album.

Buy buy moneys. Or bye bye moneys?
