Patrick Swayze – August 18, 1952 – September 14, 2009

Even though Swayze will always be primarily remembered for a four-year stint where he was one of the most successful box office stars in the world, his career spanned five decades and multiple genres, beginning in 1979 and ending in 2009. Famed for the good looks and charisma which drove the success of his biggest hits Ghost and Dirty Dancing, he is remembered also as an accomplished pilot, dancer, singer, and theatre actor. Overcoming several losses during his life, his marriage to Lisa Niemi was one of the few in modern Hollywood which was built to last and helped him deal with the pitfalls of show business and personal tragedies. Swayze continued to work until his death at the age of 57.
