1962 Academy Awards: An Introduction

The 35th Academy Awards were presented by Frank Sinatra and saw Lawrence Of Arabia winning 7 of it’s 10 nominations. Sinatra was turned away by security guards (presumably for being Frank Sinatra) and almost didn’t make the show. Presenters included Audrey Hepburn, Eva Marie Saint, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, and Miyoshi Umeki with an honorary award going to Steve Broidy, a film executive known for his humanitarian efforts. Performances included a Robert Goulet medley (similar to one given in Bart Simpson’s Treehouse).

The next series of posts will see me offering my choices of winners from the actual nominations and then selecting my own nominations and winners thanks to the time travelling, awe-inspiring power of The Spac-Hole. Will Lawrence Of Arabia still come out on top? I think it is safe to say ‘NO’.

Tell it like it is!
