Ingmar Bergman-14 July 1918 – 30 July 2007

Ingmar Bergman was one of the most highly praised filmmakers of all time – most moviegoers these days may not be able to name any of his films, but will certainly be exposed to many of his innovative techniques and shots unknowingly. Bergman may not have had the commercial crossover success which many of his peers managed to achieve, but all of your favourite directors will have been influenced by him – Kubrick, Allen, Coppola, Del Toro, Scorcese, Chan Wook Park, Spielberg all hail him as one of the best. An auteur from start to finish, his films are known for their iconic stark visuals, camera placement, and themes of death, depression, and insanity. One of the true greats, every true fan of cinema should watch and learn from Bergman.
